July came in with a bang. Our sister Lakia Nichole left her post with The Divas' D.I.S.H. She went on to spread her butterfly wings. Visit the Divas' Diary to get the details.
We had a photo shoot for Purple Honey XV. We were FIERCE! April Sampe', Ama Chandra, Krystle Est, Comedian Stilletto, Rebecca Dupas, DJ Lady Mysterious, and I claimed all kinds of unholy fabulousness in our all white (with purple accented) attire.
I went to a fundraising tribute for OOH of Brown Fish at Coppin State University. I got to see Eze Jackson, The Love Peace Project, Navasha Daya, Maimouna Yousef, Jahiti of Brown Fish, and a host of others perform. It was beautiful.
I helped support the #300MenMarch with the #BaltimoreGirls. It was monumental and moving.
I went to Cascade Lake with my children. I almost got a tan. ALMOST...uggghhh...and we had a day trip in NYC.
I recorded a voice over for Shameeka Dream's event Ineffable Dream. E. Wonder and I are co-hosting that event on July 27. We both realized that it's time for us to start using our voices more than we have.....like as tools....to make money...yeah
Like I said, July came in with a bang. This isn't even everything that happened. These are some of the highlights. I still have another post for the month....AND IT'S NOW LEO SEASON
June was the business y'all. It really really was. It started with a day party at the Paradox with the #BaltimoreGirls. I had a blast partying there. I went to The Art Room to support Last Born Child for his birthday performance. It was on that day that the city learned that we lost Derrick Jones a.k.a. OOH a.k.a. Yo Slick. The city is still recovering from that loss.
I met with Hope Marsh a.k.a. The Laffin Afro to discuss an upcoming collaboration. I had dinner with two Baltimore Guardian Angels. I hadn't had the pleasure of being in the company to just talk for a while so it was great catching up and just kicking it. I hosted Knicole Taylor's Empowering Minds of Maryland's Youth S.T.A.N.D. event. I had a blast!
I watched my god-daughter graduate to high school! The ladies of The Divas DISH hosted the Gee Thang Drink Launch Party. The outpouring of support for the event was overwhelming. We had a good ass got damn time! I hosted Purple Honey solo on Father's Day. Marcell Russell, 13 of Nazareth, and Larry Lancaster performed. It was an outstanding event and a great way to spend Father's Day.
My son celebrated his 19th birthday. He's been practicing driving in my car. I live to write this so......lol
I went to a Passion Party with my GUR CynDiva. We had a blast. I even bought some thangs. *giggles* I closed the month out by co-hosting Body Banter with my sisters of The Divas D.I.S.H at Art by Cleatress Studios. It was a liberating experience. We discussed our body issues with our audience and shared and learned and healed. It was a great way to end the month.
July looks AS promising so I'll have more updates and more pictures for you. Enjoy until then!
